An interview with author and running expert Danny Dreyer
Running is one of those things in life you either love or hate. For some of us it’s both. I’ve been a runner most of my life. I’m especially fond of trail running cover long distances over rugged terrain in wild and scenic places. I’ve done a good number of marathons, several triathlons and a few ultra distance races.
But as the years and miles have add up this sport I love truly has put a hurting on my body. If you’re a runner you know what I mean. I’ve got these aches and pains all over. Sometimes it’s hard to get out of bed. And I just can’t seem to recover from those long runs as quickly as I used to.
I suppose it’s not really fair to say that I hate running. I just don’t enjoy it like I used to. And way too often I find excuses to avoid it. I guess that’s what I hate.
I’ll bet there are many of you out there who feel the same way. And if you don’t one day you just might. Whether you’ve been running for years or if you’re just getting started there just might be a way to not only make running more enjoyable, but to make it almost effortless and help you to avoid becoming injured.
The book Chi-Running by Danny Dreyer, co-authored with his wife Katherine Dreyer is something I had heard about over the last several years but I never really took the opportunity to learn more. So when Danny’s publisher contact me I was pretty excited to read his book in preparation for the interview you’re about to hear. You see Dreyer has taken the ancient martial art of Thai-Chi and combined it with the sport of running to create a practice of mindful movement that may change how you think about your athletic training.
